Every move we make carries a risk - and the beautiful thing is, we never truly know what waits for us on the other side of that leap.

With this painting, I let go of control, expectation, and fear… and somewhere in that surrender, it took flight. There is a strange lightness that comes when you finally stop holding yourself back and simply jump!.

I highly recommend coming right to the edge and trusting yourself enough to leap anyway. Sometimes that’s where the real art begins.

Layers of yellow + metallics + momentum. Huge thanks to fellow artists Akiko & Brian for handing me paint and saying “go for it.” Sometimes the work asks to be pushed past thinking - thrown, burned through, anointed while still wet.

As I packed up, I used the remaining paint to bless the surface one last time… and suddenly the piece came alive. 🔥🎨

I had to white it all out.

What wasn’t working got covered, erased, pushed back into silence… and somehow, that’s where things finally started to speak. What revealed itself felt unexpected - a hybrid of printmaking and painting, texture meeting intention, chaos finding rhythm. A match I couldn’t have planned.

Sometimes you don’t fix the piece - you move through it. Through the fog, through the doubt, through the layers. And on the other side, something better is waiting.

Not every flame burns the way you expect it to… and maybe that’s the point.

Sometimes the glow shifts, softens, disappears, or surprises you entirely. Instead of forcing it, I’m learning to let go… to step back, to breathe, and to trust what unfolds next.

Because perspective changes everything. What doesn’t make sense today might speak clearly tomorrow.

Let it be. Come back to it. Watch where it glows. 🔥

Light isn’t owned - it’s shared.

This torch isn’t just flame and form, it’s a reminder: freedom is something we keep alive together. In every era, in every place, there’s a choice a- to close in, or to open up. To dim, or to illuminate.

I painted this as a beacon, not just for one nation, but for anyone searching for possibility. An open society begins with the courage to see one another clearly - and to let that light reach further than ourselves.

May we all carry it forward.
