My first lithograph in progress: two grand café crèmes, one in London, one in France. Reversed images, drawn again from their mirror selves, and reproduced directly onto prepared limestone.

Tracing and transferring my original drawing onto

Tracing and transferring my original drawing onto limestone, using a sanguine pastel to map the image. The composition is reversed so it will print in the correct orientation - a quiet but essential part of the lithographic process. Today, I’ll begin drawing the black line work that will bring the image into focus.

Yesterday I did just that - heading to The Art Students League to prep two limestone plates and begin learning lithography. So in love with the process already and excited to see the results in the weeks ahead!

These drawings are my way of participating - of slowing down, paying attention, and embracing what we’ve grown used to overlooking. An homage to New York and all who live within her urban rhythm. A search for beauty rooted in acceptance, found exactly as things are.

Sometimes it’s just nice to sketch and be in natur

Sometimes it’s just nice to sketch and be in nature.
To sit and look. Really look.
It feels good while you’re doing it - and even better when you’re done.

I always carry a few postcards, a pencil, and some pens.
So whenever the urge hits, or I’m having a coffee, I can sit, read, or draw.
A quiet best friend.
Time spent with yourself is an exercise in itself.
